My Dreadful Head

can never get my hair sorted right.
struggle, for hours, to not much avail.
maybe i'm missing something fundamental?

get someone else to do it for me,
pay someone else to do it for me,
if i can look in the mirror without looking to the future, that's money well spent.

proud of my appearance?
just enough to sleep at night.
avoid tearing my locks out, dream that they fall out.

see the hair of another
wish i could look like him,
could've looked like him, should've looked like him.

thinner, tighter, natty, nicer,
tidy, and more numerous.
far from just a single mass, cut into 44 jigsaw pieces.

naturally jealous.
life's not worth so much
unless you can say "I'd rather be me."
